Fractional laser treatment is a non-invasive treatment that uses a device to deliver a laser beam divided into thousands of microscopic treatment zones that target a fraction of the skin at a time, analogous to a photographic image being enhanced or altered pixel by pixel.
Fractional laser can treat hyperpigmentation or sun damaged skin, wrinkles, and acne scarring. Patients most commonly have lasers applied to their whole faces, but the neck, décolletage, hands, and arms are also popular areas to treat.
Discomfort during treatment typically is minimal. The approach produces long-lasting results with virtually no downtime. A series of treatments over a one- to four-week interval may be required to achieve the desired results.
